Coach Brittany Beall Leads FAMU Softball to 28-Win Season, Best in Over a Decade

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — In her first year at the helm, head coach Brittany Scott Beall took the Florida A&M softball program to new heights, guiding the Rattlers to a 28-20 record and an appearance in the SWAC Championship game — the team’s most amount of wins since 2012.

Beall, who was hired last year after a highly successful tenure at Eustis High School, brought a championship pedigree to Tallahassee. A two-time FHSAA state champion coach, she wasted no time establishing a winning culture in her inaugural season at FAMU.

Among the local standouts contributing to FAMU’s season was former Eustis High School star Ciara Maple, who led the team with a .367 batting average. Maple racked up 44 hits and a team-high 30 runs scored.

Also making an impact was Delacia DeLeslin, an East Ridge High School graduate, who hit .221 with 17 hits and 11 RBIs on the season.

FAMU reached the SWAC Championship game, taking an early lead before falling to Jackson State, 3-1. Despite the loss, the Rattlers’ 28 wins marked their highest total since 2012 — and came with a winning record.

Though FAMU missed out on an NCAA Tournament berth as an at-large bid, the season signaled a strong foundation for the future under Beall’s leadership.

Meanwhile at Eustis High School, Beall’s former team is now led by head coach Tyra Bowers and they have an FHSAA Regional Semifinal matchup against South Sumter tomorrow night at 7pm.
