East Ridge High School Girls Soccer Wins District Championship
The East Ridge High School Lady Knights soccer team have won the Class 7A District 3 Championship game 3-2 against Lake Brantley. What a moment it was as the East Ridge girls soccer team continued their amazing season and won the district championship trophy!
In a night that was a close contest East Ridge would not be denied. Two goals by Morgan Guillmette who was absolutely on fire last night and Cayla Jackson who also had a goal is what it took to get the job done. Lake Brantley held on tight the entire game but the Lady Knights had a slight edge.
For East Ridge, they accomplished what they set out to do this season and won their third district championship. But now, East Ridge will focus on the FHSAA Soccer Playoffs. While they get to celebrate this weekend, next week the hard work begins on their quest to win a State Championship. The brackets will be released this upcoming weekend so we will be on the lookout for that.
As far as Lake Brantley is concerned, the loss against East Ridge should not hinder them too much. Lake Brantley showed they deserve to be in the Playoffs and they more than likely will be rewarded with an at-large bid.
For the Lady Knights, although we don’t know who they will be playing, we know when they will be playing which will be February 13th which is a Tuesday at 7pm.
East Ridge should be a #1 or #2 seed in Class 7A depending on where things shake out.
For now we congratulate East Ridge High School for this big accomplishment! We look forward to seeing them in the FHSAA Playoffs.
