Eustis Grad Alana Seward Shines in Freshman Season at Husson University

BANGOR, Maine — Former Eustis High School standout Alana Seward made a strong debut in her freshman season at Husson University in Maine, appearing in 25 games for the Eagles while providing valuable minutes off the bench.

(Seward drives to the basket. She was among Lake County’s top female basketball players in 2024. She would go on to score 120 points this season as a freshman for Husson University.)
Seward, a 5-foot-7 combo guard, averaged 4.8 points and 1.4 rebounds per game while showcasing her versatility on both ends of the court. She recorded 21 assists, 16 steals, and four blocks and scored 120 points on the year. Her freshman campaign featured four double-digit scoring performances, highlighting her potential as a key contributor moving forward.
A native of Eustis, Florida, Seward has been passionate about basketball since childhood, drawing inspiration from watching Lakers games with her father, Andre, a former Eustis High player. She developed into a leader at EHS before committing to Husson, where she is also pursuing a degree in business management.

(Seward was a 2024 Debutante for the Criterion Ball. She has also been heavily involved in Black Heritage Parades in Eustis and the Black Student Union at Eustis High School. She is studying Business currently.)
For Seward, the transition to college basketball was about more than just stats. She chose Husson because of the welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity to form meaningful relationships, much like she did at Eustis High. Off the court, she enjoys shopping and keeping up with the latest fashion trends, a passion she hopes to turn into a career with her own fashion line after graduation.

Seward remains committed to growth and perseverance—values she shares with young athletes including some very important advice. “Never give up,” she said. “Don’t get discouraged by the opportunities others receive. It’s all on God’s timing.”
