Yesterday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office presented a check to Eustis High School to pay for new mats for the school’s cheer program, which continues to be among the top programs both athletically and academically in Lake County.
Sheriff Peyton Grinnell presented the check for $9,788.50. This has been a long time coming for Eustis High School. The older mats were not up to the standards they should be. The new EZ Flex Sports Mats were much needed for the program.
Eustis Cheer Coach Shaidira LaRae says, “We are so excited about our upcoming season! These mats will help us continue to excel our program at a top notch level. We are so grateful to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for helping us buy our new mats.”
The Eustis High School cheerleader program has made waves by not only being among the most vocal and loud cheer teams in the area but also among the smartest. Last year, the team averaged a GPA of 3.5, which is among the highest in the team’s history.
Eustis had over 14 seniors on the team last year who were accepted into colleges and universities. This is just another step in continuing the upward trajectory of the Eustis High School cheer program.
Rest assured, this group is among the loudest and proudest in our area. They certainly make their presence known at away games and especially at home games. Congratulations to a group that truly deserved this gift. We look forward to their upcoming 2024/25 cheer season!
