EUSTIS, Fla. — For more than two decades, Sandra Scott has been a pillar of education at Eustis Middle School, shaping young minds and advocating for her fellow teachers. The community along with Lake & Sumter Style Magazine is proud to spotlight educators like Scott, whose commitment extends beyond the classroom.

Scott, a seventh-grade English Language Arts teacher, discovered her passion for education while tutoring students in her neighborhood. Recognizing her natural talent for teaching, she pursued a career in education, joining Eustis Middle School, where she has remained for all 21 years of her career. In 2022, her dedication was recognized when she was named Teacher of the Year.

Her approach to teaching goes beyond academics—she strives to create a safe and supportive space where students can overcome challenges and find a path to success.

Scott’s passion extends to her colleagues as well. A proud member of the Lake County Education Association (LCEA) since 2005, she has been a steadfast advocate for teachers’ rights and resources. Since joining the LCEA board in 2017, she has worked to ensure educators have a strong voice in policy decisions affecting their classrooms and careers.

Her contributions to both education and advocacy exemplify the impact of dedicated teachers in shaping the future. As Black History Month shines a light on leaders who uplift their communities, Scott’s unwavering commitment stands as an inspiration for both students and educators.
