Eustis Teen Creates Christmas Toy Drive for Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital
Teddy’s Giant Heart Project is back for its 5th annual Christmas toy drive, spearheaded by 16-year-old Teddy, whose mission is to bring holiday joy to children spending Christmas away from home. What began as a heartfelt initiative in April 2020 has grown into a cherished community tradition, spreading kindness and hope.
In 2020, Teddy used his own birthday money to donate food to first responders. Later that year, he launched the toy drive with the goal of bringing smiles to children at Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital. Teddy was moved by the thought of children being away from their families during the holidays and wanted to make a difference.
Since then, the toy drive has grown exponentially, thanks to the incredible support of the community. Last year alone, the project raised 295 toys, and this year, the goal is set at 200 new, unwrapped toys. With only 3 days left, the project has already collected 179 toys and is eagerly seeking additional donations to reach its target.

“Teddy’s Giant Heart Project has become a beacon of holiday spirit for our community,” his mom, Krista Kinkade Pentz, says. “The thought of children spending Christmas away from their tree breaks Teddy’s heart, and we’re so grateful for the generosity of everyone who has joined us in making a difference.”
The toy drive will culminate in December with a special delivery to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps bring a smile to a child’s face this Christmas.
