First Academy – Leesburg Presents “Prince Caspian” – A Journey into Narnia
First Academy-Leesburg is gearing up for their upcoming spring play, “Prince Caspian,” based on the beloved book by C.S. Lewis from “The Chronicles of Narnia” series. Directed by Molly Ishmael, this enchanting production promises to captivate audiences of all ages with its thrilling adventure and timeless themes.
Featuring a talented cast of nearly 40 students and supported by another dozen crew members, “Prince Caspian” brings to life the magical world of Narnia on stage. With a total of approximately 70 people involved, including crew, parent volunteers, and professionals, this production showcases the dedication and collaborative spirit of the First Academy-Leesburg community.
“So many of us grew up reading the “Chronicles of Narnia” series and watching the movies, so it’s really thrilling to be one of the few high schools ever to produce this show on stage,” Molly says. ” We worked with the script’s publisher in South Carolina and the C.S. Lewis Company in London to procure the rights, and nearly 55 students and dozens of professionals are working on the play. It’s our biggest spring show ever!”
Adapted for the stage by Nicole Chavers Stratton, the script stays true to the essence of the book, making it a must-see for Narnia fans. Audiences can expect a fantastic and uplifting tale that transports them to a realm filled with wonder, bravery, and the eternal struggle between good and evil.
Synopsis: “Prince Caspian” serves as a sequel to “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” welcoming back the Pevensie children – Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy – to the enchanting land of Narnia. However, they soon discover that time in Narnia moves differently, with over a thousand years having passed since their last visit. As they reunite with old friends and encounter new allies, including the young Prince Caspian, they must confront the tyranny of the Telmarines, who have seized control of Narnia in the absence of Aslan, the great lion and king above all kings. Together, they embark on a daring quest to restore peace and justice to the realm, culminating in a thrilling battle against the forces of darkness.
