First Academy-Leesburg quarterback Henry Purvis has been named the Lake & Sumter Style Magazine Male Athlete of the Week after leading the FA-Leesburg football team to a commanding 41-18 season-opening victory against Lakeside Christian.

The junior signal-caller threw for 193 yards and four touchdowns on 10-of-19 passing, while also rushing for 57 yards in a dynamic performance that helped set the tone for FA-Leesburg’s 2025 campaign.

If you watch Henry, he’s just in total command out there. Henry has excellent leadership, arm talent, and ability to extend plays and that makes a big difference.

Senior tight end Logan Stalvey emerged as one of Henry’s top targets, hauling in two touchdown passes on just two receptions for 55 yards. The duo connected on several momentum-shifting plays that left Lakeside Christian scrambling for answers. At 6-foot-3, Stalvey’s height gives Purvis a reliable red-zone option and a consistent target downfield. Stalvey also made 15 tackles on the defensive side of the ball and is the teams middle linebacker.

The offensive outburst didn’t stop there. Rayce Teate added a 20-yard touchdown reception, Luke Rutzebeck caught four passes for 53 yards and a score, and freshman Dylan Bell introduced himself to varsity football with a touchdown of his own. This team comes into the season with some obvious chemistry built over the summer. Head coach Canh Bui and his staff have FA-Leesburg looking strong to start the year.

With the win, First Academy-Leesburg starts the season 1-0 and looks ahead to its home opener against Saint Francis Catholic Academy on August, 22 at 7 p.m. The matchup will be played at Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex and marks the team’s first home appearance of the 2025 season.
