As a Vitreo-Retinal surgeon, Dr. Jaya Kumar is a highly trained physician who specializes in the diagnosis, evaluation and medical or surgical treatment of diseases affecting the back of the eye. 

“It’s rewarding to help patients achieve functional independence,” Dr. Kumar says. “This is a challenging profession but also a very rewarding one.”

Dr. Kumar completed a four-year ophthalmology residency at Duke University and a two-year fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She has been practicing at Florida Retina Institute for four years.
