Former Pro Baseball Player Devin Anderson Named Head Coach at Villages High School
The Villages High School has announced the appointment of Devin Michael Anderson as the new head coach of its high school baseball team. Anderson, a former professional baseball player, brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the game to his new role. Anderson had been an assistant coach for the Montverde Academy baseball team.
Born on January 24, 1984, in Winter Garden, Florida, Anderson’s baseball journey began at a young age. He honed his skills and showcased his talent at Pensacola State College, where he made a significant impact on the field. His impressive college performance caught the attention of major league scouts, leading to his selection in the 2002 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves. Chosen in the 28th round as the 845th overall pick, Anderson embarked on a professional career that saw him play in the minors, where he gained invaluable experience and insights into the game.
Throughout his professional career, Anderson demonstrated a strong work ethic, dedication, and a deep understanding of baseball, qualities he now brings to Villages High School. As the new head coach, he aims to inspire and mentor young athletes, helping them develop their skills and achieve their potential both on and off the field.
Villages High School is coming off a 17-12 season which saw the Buffalo get to the District Championship ultimately losing to North Marion 13-3. They would make the FHSAA Playoffs making it to the second round before being beat by Merritt Island.
The Villages is no doubt enthusiastic about Anderson’s arrival. This is very exciting for the program and we wish coach Anderson nothing but the best of luck as he prepares for the upcoming 2025 baseball season.
