Former Villages Basketball Star Tre Mann Traded To Charlotte Hornets
Former Villages Basketball star Tre Mann, who became the school’s first NBA draft selection, has been traded to the Charlotte Hornets. Mann had been playing with the Oklahoma City Thunder since he was drafted.
The Oklahoma City agreed to acquire Gordon Hayward from the Charlotte Hornets for Tre Mann, Vasilije Micic, Davis Bertans, and draft compensation.
Hayward is currently on a $31.5 million expiring contract and was not planning on seeking a buyout if he was not traded.
The Thunder signed Micic to a three-year $23.6 million deal last offseason, with the third year being a team option.
Tre Mann was incredible in high school. As a junior, he averaged 20 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Mann played college basketball at the University of Florida before becoming a first-round draft pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. The Thunder selected him with the 18th overall pick.
This should be refreshing for Mann. Oklahoma was packed with talent this season, and Mann was averaging about 9 minutes per game while averaging about 4 points per game. The Hornets’ roster is comprised of LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges, and Brandon Miller, among others.
It will be fun to see what Tre Mann can do with a fresh start with the Hornets. Even though Charlotte is having a rough year, it should allow Mann to get more playing time on the roster and contribute more to the team overall. This is a positive step for Mann. Hopefully, Charlotte can build the team up in the offseason and contend next season.
