Four South Lake High Student-Athletes Sign College Commitments

GROVELAND, Fla. — South Lake High School celebrated a milestone moment on Wednesday as four standout student-athletes signed their letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.
Baseball star Jordan Brewer is heading north to join the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals in Maryland. Brewer has been a cornerstone of the Eagles’ baseball program, known for his discipline on the mound Brewer led the Eagles in strikeouts with 45 this season and had a 3.69 ERA.

On the basketball court, teammates David Pina and Donte Hubert made it official with the Baptist University of Florida Buf Eagles, where the duo hopes to bring their chemistry and competitive edge to the next level. Both players have been instrumental in South Lake’s basketball success, known for their defensive intensity and playmaking abilities. Pina was one of the top scorers last season in Lake County averaging 23.6 points per game and had 566 points this past season.

Rounding out the signees is football standout Alex Vila, who committed to Alfred University in New York.

“We also gave out our male and females student athletes of the year and they both received a $1500 scholarship with the sponsorship from Groveland Dental. Livia Rodrigues – Swimmer committed to West Florida for swimming and Marcel Walker – Football/Boys Lacrosse committed to Brevard College for football.” says athletic director Travis Alderink.
“We also gave Connor Plumber The Burlsworth Character Award.”

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
