Inverness’s Ben Davison Finishes 4th At Paris Olympic Games In Rowing
Ben Davison’s who is from Inverness officially made his second Olympic team earlier this year and has been rowing with Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 28-year-old rower from Inverness, has put his heart and soul into the sport of Rowing. He’s not just an Olympian, Ben is one of the best rowers in the entire country.
Growing up in Inverness, Ben’s childhood was shaped by the love and encouragement of his parents, Terry and Sarah, and his brother, Joe.
Ben’s journey into the rowing world was as intense as the sport itself. After being named the PAC-12 Conference Men’s Rowing Athlete of the Year in 2019, he had set his sights on joining the U.S. National Team and representing his country on the world stage. His passion for rowing and his 6’4 frame made him perfect for the sport. His long arms and legs made him a formidable opponent in college.
By the time of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Ben had already experienced the pressure and prestige of competing at the highest level. His team had finished fourth in the Men’s Eight, narrowly missing a medal but proving they belonged on the sports biggest stage. The close finish left Ben with a taste for more, and he returned to the training grind with an unrelenting focus on the next opportunity. Qualifying for Paris this year, it was yet another opportunity for him and his country men to go for gold.
The 2024 Paris Olympics offered a new challenge. This time, Ben was competing in the Double Sculls, partnering with his crew-mate in a bid for a medal. Despite their rigorous preparation and a fiercely competitive field, they fell just shy of the podium, finishing fourth. It’s heartbreaking knowing that Ben has been so close the last eight years on getting that coveted Olympic medal. But Ben is the kind of person who will never quit. He fully intends to compete in his home country come 2028 in L.A. at which time Ben will be 32-years-old.
We are very proud of Ben Davison and his accomplishments. We know that Olympic medal will come one day! Ben is a source of inspiration in our area for rowing. We want to congratulate him on making the Olympic games and we only hope he can find his way on that podium in 2028 on his home soil!
