Jose Davila Announced as New Montverde Academy Assistant Athletic Director

Montverde, FL (July 10, 2025) – Montverde Academy is pleased to announce the hiring of Jose Davila as its new Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Program Development.

Davila will oversee compliance efforts across all sports programs, support coaching staff development, and lead initiatives to enhance student-athlete experiences while ensuring the highest standards of academic and athletic excellence.

Davila brings a strong background in athletics administration, education, and coaching to Montverde Academy. Most recently, he served as an Athletic Director and physical education teacher at Pinecrest Lakes Prep, where he was responsible for developing and implementing its athletics department’s vision, policies, and goals, while ensuring compliance with school, conference, and state athletic regulations. His leadership also extended to fundraising, staff development, scheduling, and fostering academic success among student-athletes.

Prior to that, Davila served as Dean for Union Park Elementary School, where he worked closely with teachers, students, and parents to promote student engagement, achievement, and character development. Davila’s experience also includes serving as physical education teacher and a coach for its boys and girls basketball teams at Horizon West Middle School from 2019-23.

Davila-Colon is a 2018 graduate of the University of Central Florida, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Exercise Science. Prior to that he attended Missouri Southern University from 2010-11 and the University of West Florida from 2008-10. He was a member of the men’s basketball team while at both institutions.

“We are excited to welcome Jose Davila to the Montverde Academy athletic department,” said Director of Athletic Operations Khrystal Phiri. “His experience as an athletic administrator and coach, combined with his dedication to compliance, program development, and student success, will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow our athletics programs.”

Davila’s tenure at Montverde Academy commences immediately.

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.

For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.

Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
