Kings Donuts & Deli of Mount Dora Takes Donut’s to a Whole New Level

If you’re like me, you appreciate a good donut now and then. Or maybe, like me, you’re on a diet and you find yourself just staring longingly through the glass, watching others enjoy what used to be your Saturday morning tradition. Either way, there’s one place in Mount Dora that’s hard to ignore, King’s Donuts & Deli of Mount Dora.

(Immediately upon entering you are hit with an amazing aroma of goodness and this donut shelf that will have you looking like a kid in a candy store trying to decide what to get.)

Before October 2021, you’d be hard-pressed to find a quality, independent donut shop in this Central Florida town. Sure, Mount Dora had its share of restaurants and coffee spots, but when it came to locally made donuts? Not so much. That changed when King’s Donuts Deli opened on County Road 19A, just west of Eudora Road.

(My go to donut. Yes it’s the glazed donut. Simple and yet flavor you will enjoy to the fullest. These bad boys are GOOD!)

Since opening, the shop has become a favorite among locals. With a lineup that includes everything from fluffy glazed and rich chocolate raised donuts to cake donuts, cinnamon rolls, fritters, muffins and even baked croissants that transport your tastebuds straight to Paris, it’s clear this place isn’t your average donut stop.

While national chains like Dunkin’ and Starbucks continue to dominate corners and drive-thrus, King’s Donuts stands apart with its freshly made offerings and homey, heartfelt service. The shop may be small, but it’s mighty, offering a few indoor tables for those who want to sit and enjoy a bite, and a convenient drive-thru for customers on the go.

(There are so many varieties and a great menu of breakfast sandwiches and drink options to choose from as well.)

Don’t believe it? Type it in on Google, they have a 4.8 star rating. That’s one of the highest in the area. They know what they are doing and when I say your mouth is going to explode with flavor and goodness, take my word for it.

And it’s not just about sweets. The deli side of the menu features a selection of breakfast items and sandwiches, iced coffee, teas and smoothies, all priced to be easy on your wallet.

(They even have donuts for special occasions like valentines day, mothers day and other times during the year like July 4th, Halloween and Christmas.)

But let’s get back to the main event: the donuts.

The first bite into a King’s Donut is something special. It’s soft, fresh, and full of flavor, the kind of treat that makes you forget about calories, at least for a moment. And isn’t that the point? Life’s too short to skip the good stuff all the time.

Parents will be glad to know the shop also offers donut holes or as many call them, “munchkins.” These bite-sized treats are just as satisfying as their full-sized counterparts and are always a hit with kids.

(Look at these Fritters. Just look at them. They are as good as they look and cooked to perfection.)

Perhaps what stands out most about King’s Donuts is the consistency. Each visit brings fresh, flavorful donuts, not something that’s been sitting out since yesterday. And in a town full of great places to eat, it’s nice to have a go-to spot that truly delivers on the simple joy of a well-made donut.

So whether you’re watching your waistline or throwing caution to the wind, do yourself a favor and stop by King’s Donuts & Deli of Mount Dora. It’s a local business with some fantastic offerings to choose from.
