LADY LAKE – The Town of Lady Lake swore in Commissioners Treva Roberts, Ward 1; Ed Freeman, Ward 3; Ed Regan, Ward 4; and Mike Sage, Ward 5; during the regular Commission meeting on Nov. 20.

Commissioners appointed Ed Freeman to serve a two-year term as Mayor and Treva Roberts to serve as Mayor Pro Tem.

During the Nov. 7 election, Commissioner Sage unseated former Mayor Jim Rietz. Commissioner Sage is originally from Waterbury, Connecticut and currently lives in The Village of Country Club Hills. He is the owner and operator of Silver Springs Kayaking LLC. His primary goal is to remain accessible to citizens through various channels and actively listen to and address their concerns.

Mayor Freeman was re-elected unopposed for a second term, after having first been elected in 2021. A Water Oak resident who hails from Connecticut, Mayor Freeman was a commercial photographer and graphic artist, and owned commercial and residential rental properties. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Mayor Freeman understands that while growth is inevitable, maintaining the small town feel of Lady Lake is vital.

Commissioner Roberts, a native of Columbus, Ohio, filled a seat vacated by longtime Commissioner Ruth Kussard, who did not seek re-election. A resident of Village of La Reynalda, she is a retired small business owner and worked as a jewelry designer and goldsmith. She rose to the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves, where she served for 18 years, was an Airborne Paratrooper and is a veteran of first Gulf War.

Commissioner Regan was elected unopposed on Nov. 7 in a special election, filling a seat vacated by Commissioner Paul Hannan after his death in July. Commissioner Regan previously served on the Planning & Zoning Board since Sept. 2021. He grew up in central New York and ultimately settled in a home in Lady Lake on the Spanish Springs Town Square. After attending college, he began a career as a facilities manager for New York state. Commissioner Regan understands the importance of helping others and serving the public.

During the meeting, Sen. Dennis Baxley awarded former Commissioner Kussard a 15-year pin for her dedicated service to the Town.
