TAVARES, Fla. — Major Chris DeLibro, a veteran law enforcement officer known for his unwavering dedication and community service, officially retired from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office on May 1, capping off a remarkable 31-year career with the agency.

DeLibro began his public safety journey more than three decades ago, initially serving the citizens of Lake County as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician with Lake County Fire Rescue for over three years. In 1992, he joined the Sheriff’s Office as a full-time detention deputy at the Lake County Jail. After graduating from the law enforcement academy in 1995, he went on to serve in nearly every unit within the agency, earning respect and admiration at every level.

Throughout his distinguished tenure, DeLibro played a pivotal role not only in law enforcement but also in community outreach. He served as the inaugural president of the Lake County Sheriff’s Charities Board of Directors, where he helped raise significant funds for the foundation—an effort that has made a lasting impact on local families and charitable causes.

“Major DeLibro’s legacy is one of honorable service, unwavering commitment, and deep compassion for the people of Lake County,” said a spokesperson from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. “His name will be spoken with fondness for years to come by those who had the privilege to serve alongside him.”
