Lake Minneola High Safety Jonah Cali Commits To Navy
Jonah Cali has committed to Navy. The safety made his decision this past weekend in a X post with one word. “Committed.” The safety had a fantastic season for Lake Minneola. He and fellow safety Quentin Taylor who is committed to Iowa State did a terrific job at pass protection this season.
Cali was second on the team in tackles with 62 total tackles. He had 31 solo tackles and he only played in 10 total games out of the 12 that Lake Minneola played so those numbers could have been even higher. Cali had offers from Army, Navy, Liberty, Memphis and Bowling Green.
Cali was all over the field. He had two interceptions, one caused fumble, one fumble recovery and was just an extremely reliable player that Lake Minneola counted on all season long.
Cali joins a growing list of 2023 Lake Minneola Players to go and play football at the Division 1 level. Lake Minneola has been a pool of talent and that comes down to the amazing coaching staff that the Hawks have. Head coach Walter Banks, Assistant coach’s Chad Mavety, Grant Alford and others take tremendous pride in their program.
Cali will get to join a Navy team that is coming off a difficult season which saw their offense sputter especially in the Army vs Navy game which Navy lost 17-11. In fact, Navy just fired their Offensive Coordinator Brian Newberry. Cali will certainly add depth the Navy secondary in 2024 and going forward.
We are grateful for Jonah Cali for committing to Navy and his future service to our country. We are happy for his family and the Lake Minneola community. We wish him great success during the final months of his senior year and his upcoming freshman year at Navy!
