Lake Minneola High Students Honored for State Championship Wins
Lake Minneola student-athletes Kai Evans and Isreal Clovis were both honored for their remarkable state championship victories this year. Clovis secured a state championship in weightlifting, while Kai Evans triumphed with two individual state championship victories in track & field.
Clovis demonstrated extraordinary strength by lifting an impressive 740 pounds. He clinched the state title in Traditional Weightlifting in the 238-pound class and also achieved second place in Olympic weightlifting in the same weight class.
Meanwhile, just a few weeks ago, Kai Evans showcased his dominance at the FHSAA Track & Field State Championships. He seized victory in the 110M Hurdles and the 400M hurdles, solidifying his status as the fastest high school hurdler in the United States.
Both students were lauded for their achievements during a recent visit to the school board and superintendent, who commended their outstanding performances. “These amazing student-athletes make us so proud, both on and off the field,” shared Lake Minneola High in a recent social media post.
Lake Minneola High continues to excel as a program for student-athletes to develop and hone their skills. Both young men have the potential to become future Olympians. Congratulations to both of them on a job well done! Way to represent Lake County!
