Lake-Sumter State College Athletics had a lot to cheer for in 2024. Not only did the school welcome new Executive Director of Athletics Padraic McMeel, but the Lake Hawks also had a stellar year on the field and in the classroom.

The combined GPA of all Lake-Sumter State College athletes was 3.32. Overall, 8 out of 10 teams finished with a GPA over 3.0, while 5 student-athletes finished the year with a 4.0 GPA.

Lake-Sumter State College wrapped up a successful spring sports season with several district and national championship contenders. “I am incredibly proud of our student-athletes and their success in the classroom. Their drive to be successful both academically and athletically is truly inspiring,” says McMeel.

As Lake-Sumter State College continues its prowess athletically, graduates of Lake-Sumter State College have become great ambassadors of Lake County. “The student-athletes continue to strive for excellence and are tremendous ambassadors for LSSC, the athletics department, and their teams,” says McMeel.

This is fantastic news. Lake-Sumter State College continues to be an incredible place for students to continue their academic and athletic careers. Congratulations to LSSC on a great year!
