Lake-Sumter State College has officially signed the brand new golf program’s first three student-athletes who will compete during the program’s inaugural 2024-2024 season.

Kylan Johnson is a graduate of Circle Christian School in Winter Springs, Florida. Bradley Parker is a graduate of Boone High School, Kasen Schlichenmaier also competed with Boone High School. These three represent the start of the brand new program at LSSC. This is very exciting for the school as they continue to expand their academic and athletics offerings.

During the announcement LSSC Executive Director of Athletics Padraic McMeel shared his thoughts “I am so excited that these young men have chosen to join the men’s golf team in its inaugural season at Lake-Sumter State College. They come from great families and bring tremendous academic and athletic success with them as we build a championship program. We cannot wait to get the golf program started,” says McMeel.

According to an article published by Lake-Sumter State College which you can read fully in this link: Padraic McMeel says “There is not a Florida College System Athletic Association Region 8 Championship established, but the teams will have the opportunity to compete for a national championship in May of 2025. LSSC continues to recruit young men and women to join the Lakehawk golf programs. IF you would be interested in learning more about Lake Sumter and the golf program, please reach out to Padraic McMeel at mcmeelp@lssc.edu.”

Congratulations to these student-athletes. We look forward to seeing how the golf program develops in the coming months.
