LEESBURG, Fla. – Lake-Sumter State College is proud to announce that Lakehawk softball standout Amy Bak, a sophomore, has been selected to the 2025 NJCAA Rawlings Gold Glove Team, presented by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in partnership with Rawlings Sporting Goods Company.

Bak becomes the first player in Lakehawk softball history to receive this prestigious national honor.

This season, Bak posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, earning her spot on the Gold Glove Team at the pitcherposition.

“Our team and coaching staff are incredibly proud of Amy,” said Head Coach Jay Miller. “She is a great representative of our program. To win a defensive award as a pitcher shows the absolute detail in her preparation. Amy led our team in wins, was first-team All-Region, and is now the owner of a Rawlings Gold Glove Award.”

“This is an incredible achievement for Amy and a milestone for our softball program,” said Dr. Joseph Mews, vice president of enrollment and student affairs. “Amy exemplifies what it means to be a Lakehawk by balancing competitive excellence with academic and personal growth. We are proud of her dedication both on the field and in the classroom.”

“This is a historic moment for Lake-Sumter State College and our athletics program,” said Dr. Laura Byrd, interim president. “Amy’s selection as the College’s first-ever Rawlings Gold Glove Award recipient is a testament to her exceptional talent, work ethic, and leadership on the field. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and grateful to Coach Miller and the entire coaching staff for their dedication to developing student-athletes who shine at the highest levels.”

Over the course of her Lakehawk career, Bak maintained a 1.000 fielding percentage in 36 total chances across 63 appearances in the circle. In two seasons, she compiled an 18-10 record with three saves, pitching 196 innings with a 3.18 ERA and 124 strikeouts.

Recipients of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, presented by the NFCA, were selected by the NFCA’s NJCAA Division I and II All-America Committees, following regional voting to determine the finalists at each position. Committees reviewed fielding statistics and school-submitted video to select winners. Any student-athlete competing in the current championship year and nominated by a head coach in good standing with the NFCA was eligible for consideration.
