Leesburg High Football Standout Izayia Williams, Commits to Louisville
In a week marked by upheaval for Leesburg High School football, following the departure of head coach Steven Moffett, there’s a glimmer of triumph as standout player Izayia Williams solidifies his commitment to the University of Louisville. The 6’1″, 205lb sophomore, who plays as an outside linebacker for the Yellow Jackets, capped off a remarkable season despite the team’s challenges.
Williams, an impressive force on the field, showcased his skills throughout the season, leaving spectators in awe. His physique aligns perfectly with the expectations of an ACC defender, a noteworthy feat given his sophomore status.
This season, Williams made his mark with 40 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, and 23 solo tackles. Ranking second on the team in total tackles, he closely trails teammate Aden Hall, another linebacker anticipated to make waves in Division 1 football. The dynamic duo dominated the field, leading the team in sacks.
Beyond his prowess in tackles, Williams exhibited versatility with an interception and at least three crucial passes batted down at the line of scrimmage. His on-field charisma has marked him as a player to watch, and Louisville is poised to witness his continued growth in the coming years.
With his college commitment settled, Williams now turns his focus to offseason training, aiming to elevate his strength and skills. Leesburg High School’s tradition of attending offseason camps is expected to further hone Williams’ abilities, positioning him as one of the top defensive juniors in Lake County come 2023.
Congratulations to Izayia Williams on his well-deserved commitment to the University of Louisville!
