Leesburg International Airport Breaks Ground on Hangar Construction Project – Phase I
Exciting developments are taking flight at Leesburg International Airport as the city broke ground on Phase I of the Hangar Construction Project this morning. This project prepares a 5-acre site for the construction of four new multi-unit storage, corporate, and maintenance hangars, helping to meet the growing demand for aircraft storage and aeronautical business operations.
“Leesburg International Airport has become a vital asset for our community, driving economic growth and creating new opportunities,” Leesburg Commissioner Alan Reisman says. “The construction of these new hangars marks another step forward in attracting businesses, generating jobs, and expanding our aviation community. This progress is made possible by the unwavering support of the City Commission, the Airport Advisory Board, our dedicated city staff, aviation engineers, and the FDOT. We are building a stronger future for the airport and the City of Leesburg.”
The groundbreaking ceremony celebrated the collaborative efforts that made the project possible, including the support of the Florida Department of Transportation and the contributions of local leadership.
“A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone and to the Florida Department of Transportation for supporting this transformative project,” a Facebook post read.
Special recognition was given to Tracey Dean, Airport Manager, for her decade of dedicated service, saying her “leadership has helped transform Leesburg International into a thriving aviation hub.
The Phase I project will include essential sitework such as stormwater retention, utility relocation, and ground and pavement infrastructure. The project is funded by Leesburg International Airport in conjunction with grants from the Florida Department of Transportation.
