Leesburg Weightlifters Impress at AAU State Championships

The Leesburg High School weightlifting team capped off a successful summer offseason at the 2025 AAU State Championships, with two athletes bringing home individual state titles.
Cameron Boyer dominated the 110-pound weight class, earning gold in both the Olympic and Traditional disciplines. Boyer won the Olympic lift by a commanding 30-pound margin, cementing her status as one of the top lifters in her division.

(Cameron Boyer won the AAU state championship in both the olympic and traditional 110 pound weight class.)
In the 139-pound class, Gage Anderson also secured a state championship, claiming gold in the Olympic lift and silver in the Traditional. Anderson edged out a top competitor from Class 3A Flagler, though the two will not face off again during the upcoming FHSAA season.
“Cameron and Gage had great performances,” head coach Josh Boyer says. “They performed very well and continue to set the tone for what we expect at Leesburg.”
Hannah Stubbs earned a silver medal in the Olympic lift and a bronze in Traditional in the 154-pound division. In the 169-pound class, Yadanar Hlaing posted a pair of fourth-place finishes in both lifting styles.

(If this summer proved anything it’s that Leesburg will once again be among the favorites as they defend their state championship.)
Dani McCormick took fourth place in the Olympic lift in the 119-pound class, while Vincent Chen added a bronze medal in the Traditional lift in the 199-pound division.
Other competitors for Leesburg included Savannah Johnson, Zia Conley, Wade Rector, Roberto Claudio, Collins Cuppels, and Alex Neyra-Hernandez.
Coach Boyer, who led both the boys and girls teams to FHSAA state titles last season, including the first-ever three-peat by a Lake County school, said the offseason results are a strong sign for what’s to come.
