LifeWise Academy Having Big Impact in Community

When the first LifeWise Academy program launched last year in Florida, the Scripture “Do not despise humble beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin” (Zechariah 4:10) came to mind for Program Director Gwen Chambers.

What began at one school in two grades has now doubled in size, expanding to serve four grades (2nd through 5th) at Lost Lake Elementary School. This month, an additional LifeWise program also launches at Cecil Gray Middle School.

LifeWise Academy provides Bible education to public school students during school hours, off school property, privately funded, and always with parental permission. Classes meet once a week, often during lunch or recess, ensuring that core academic time is not affected.

But beyond Bible lessons, LifeWise equips students with life-changing character traits such as integrity, respect, responsibility, perseverance, and compassion. These values help children thrive personally and ripple outward—strengthening relationships at home, in the classroom, and throughout the community. Teachers and parents often notice positive changes in students’ attitudes, confidence, and decision-making as a result of the program.

A parent of a new third grade student shared that her son came home excited about class and explained how the game he played helped him understand who he is in God.

Currently, there are three active LifeWise programs in Florida, with several more expected to launch this school year. In Lake County, the school board has already approved programs for every school in the district—a testament to the growing demand for Bible-based character education.
