They did it… but just barely. Jacob and Brad, two regulars at Fresh Jalapeño Mexican Restaurant in Lady Lake, became the first pair to successfully complete the restaurant’s 10-Pound Burrito Challenge, which debuted about a month ago.

(The incredible size of the Fresh Jalapeño 10-Pound Burrito.)

Initially offered only to individual competitors, the challenge has so far bested every solo eater who attempted it. In response, the restaurant recently opened the contest to teams of two, but only through Aug. 30.

Jacob and Brad trained for several weeks ahead of their attempt. On the day of the challenge, they came in hungry cheered on by their family and restaurant guests. The pair managed to conquer the massive burrito, though both appeared full and slightly woozy afterward.

(Both men who completed the challenge got Burrito Challenge Winner Shirts from Fresh Jalapeño.)

As the first winners, the pair received T-shirts reading: “Burrito Challenge Winner – Lady Lake, Florida.”

“Stay tuned for our first solo competitor to complete the challenge,” says the restaurant in a statement.

While no individual has yet finished the entire burrito, staff say they’re optimistic an individual will conquer the challenge one day. Whether it’s a seasoned competitive eater or simply someone really, really hungry.
