Local Public Relations Professionals Win Golden Image Awards
The Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Lake County Chapter was well represented at the recent FPRA PR & Comms Summit where numerous members were presented with Golden Image Awards for excellence in public relations programming. The Association’s annual gala and conference was held in Tampa.

Among the winners and awards were:
- Darryl E. Owens, associate vice president of communications and engagement at Beacon College, and Mary C. Wymer, APR, digital communications manager at Beacon College, received a Golden Image Award of Distinction and a Judges’ Award for ROI for the Beacon College Salon Speaker Series in Division A Community Relations. The duo also was saluted with an inaugural Silver Pinnacle Award in the Nonprofit Team of the Year category. The Pinnacle Awards recognize individuals, agencies, nonprofit organizations, corporate teams, and government agencies for outstanding and ongoing strategic work in public relations and communications.
- Elisha Pappacoda, communications director for the Town of Lady Lake, received a Golden Image Award of Distinction and a Judges’ Award for Creativity for the Lady Lake Police Department Recruitment Campaign in Division A Institutional.
- Levar Cooper, director of communications for Lake County Board of County Commissioners, and Sarah Lux, APIO, lead public information officer for Lake County Board of County Commissioners, and the Office of Communications, received a Golden Image Award of Distinction for the Discover Lake County Tourism website in Division C Website.
The Golden Image Awards have become a standard of public relations excellence in the State of Florida. Winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design. The awards competition includes four categories: Public Relations Programs, Printed Tools of Public Relations, Audio/Visual Tools of Public Relations, and Student Projects in Public Relations.
