The MDCA girls’ basketball team showcased their district-champion prowess on Wednesday evening, facing a spirited challenge from Victory Christian Academy. Despite VCA’s determined effort, MDCA, entering the game as heavy favorites, asserted their dominance.

In the opening quarter, MDCA quickly established a 14-6 lead, with standout performances from Natalie Doan, Aranya Alexander, Tai Haynes, and Cassi Monn, who consistently delivered throughout the season. While MDCA maintained a strong defensive presence, VCA managed to stay competitive. The halftime score favored MDCA at 29-16.

During the third quarter, VCA staged a minor comeback, narrowing the gap to 44-34. However, MDCA turned up the heat in the fourth quarter, outscoring VCA 35-20. The final score reflected MDCA’s decisive victory at 79-54, propelling them to the second round of the Class 2A Playoffs.

Looking ahead, Mount Dora Christian Academy is set to face North Tampa Christian Academy on February 19th at 7 pm. Anticipated as a challenging matchup, North Tampa experienced difficulties against City of Life Christian Academy in their previous game. MDCA aims to extend their successful season in this upcoming clash.
