MDCA Junior Dylan Lapp Wins Lake County Golf Cup With Hole In One

LADY LAKE, Fla. — The Lake County Cup High School Golf Tournament provided plenty of excitement at Harbor Hills Golf Club on Monday, where Mount Dora Christian Academy junior Dylan Lapp captured the individual title in dramatic fashion. Lapp shot a 71, including a spectacular hole-in-one on the 16th hole, to take first place in the competitive field.

(MDCA is among the top Golf programs in Lake County. A far cry from just a few years ago when they were finishing last at tournaments. The turnaround has been amazing.)

Trailing closely behind was Eustis High School’s Cooper Adams, who finished second with a score of 73. There is a good chance Adams could have won or at least tied Lapp for the victory if it was not for Lapp’s amazing hole in one on hole 16. However a 2nd place finish was just what the doctor ordered as the postseason looms on the horizon. First Academy-Leesburg saw two players tie for third place, with senior Maggie Potash and seventh-grader Bobby Jones Potash, both carding a 74. Bobby’s strong showing promises an exciting future as one of the tournament’s youngest standouts and the only middle school student in the top 5.

Eustis High sophomore Taylor Hayes posted a 75, finishing tied for fifth alongside South Lake High’s Devan Mickelson, who also shot a 75 to round out the top five.

In the team standings, Eustis High took home the top prize with a combined score of 307. Mount Dora Christian Academy placed second with 338 points, and East Ridge High secured third with 342. Leesburg High came in fourth with 357 points, while Mount Dora High and South Lake shared fifth place with matching team scores of 362.

Harbor Hills Golf Club, known for its scenic layout, once again provided a beautiful backdrop for the competition. Congratulations to Dylan Lapp for his stellar performance and to Eustis High for clinching the team title.
