Mount Dora, FL – Mount Dora High School wide receiver Tanner Waring has verbally committed to Davidson College, marking a significant milestone in his athletic career. Waring, known for his impressive performance on the field, had a standout season last year with the Hurricanes, recording seven touchdowns—six through the air and one on the ground.
Waring’s stats from the previous season are a testament to his skill and dedication. He caught 36 passes for a total of 651 yards, averaging an impressive 18.1 yards per catch. His consistent performance and ability to make big plays have made him a crucial asset to the team and that will continue in 2024.
Coach Luke Hutchinson, who has guided Waring through his high school career, expressed his satisfaction with Waring’s development and commitment. “Tanner has worked incredibly hard and has been a key player for us. His dedication on and off the field has been outstanding.”
Off the field, Tanner Waring is one of the top students at Mount Dora High School. He has a 4.7 Weighted GPA and 4.0 State GPA. Any college or university that is going to have this kid playing and studying with them are going to be lucky. Tanner is an amazing young man who’s going to do great things.
Looking ahead to his senior year, Waring is eager to build on his success alongside teammate Jake Sepe. The duo has developed a strong connection, and their combined efforts are expected to lead the Hurricanes to a promising season. “Tanner and I have been working hard all summer with the rest of the boys. We’re ready to make this year our best one yet,” Jake Sepe stated recently.
Waring’s commitment to Davidson College, known for its strong academic and athletic programs, is a significant achievement. Davidson, a member of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), offers Waring an excellent platform to continue his athletic career while pursuing his academic goals.
As Tanner Waring embarks on this new chapter, we want to congratulate his family, friends, coaches, teachers and everyone who has had an impact on getthing this young man to where he is. Congratulations Tanner!
