Mount Dora High Wrestling Dominates 3rd Annual Golden Triangle Invitational

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — The Mount Dora High School wrestling team, under the guidance of head coach David Kemmy, delivered an outstanding performance at the 3rd Annual Golden Triangle Invitational this past weekend, securing first place out of 10 competing teams.

The Hurricanes showcased their depth and skill with multiple top finishes, led by champions Brayden Brown (113 lbs) and Colton Fickett (175 lbs), who both claimed gold in their respective weight classes.

Other notable performances included silver medalists Damian Quinonez (106 lbs), Cannon Sommer (126 lbs), and Sam Aponte (138 lbs). Henry Vasquez added a bronze medal at 144 lbs, while several other wrestlers fought their way to fourth-place finishes, including Jonathan Figueroa (126 lbs), Aidan Bush (132 lbs), Bayro Vasquez (165 lbs), Charlie Carroll (190 lbs), and Kaleb Olson (215 lbs).

Mount Dora’s victory at the invitational highlights the program’s growing reputation and strong leadership under Kemmy, as the team continues to build momentum this season. They are off to a great start. Very excited to see what this team is capable of this year.

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.

For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.

Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
