A popular Mexican eatery based in Clermont is expanding into Fruitland Park, with Los Reyes Mexican Grill preparing to open a second location by the end of the month.

The new brick-and-mortar restaurant will take over the space at 1118 Atlantic Ave., the former home of Legends Bar and Grill and, more recently, the now-closed Darrell Kelly’s Soul Delicious. The latter, which opened in 2024, shuttered within months following a troubled launch and internal challenges.

Los Reyes Mexican Grill, owned by Claudia Reyes, has built a loyal following at its original location in Clermont’s Johnson Marketplace at 550 West Ave. Known for its burritos, tacos, and traditional Mexican favorites, the restaurant boasts a 4.6-star rating on Google with over 600 reviews, making it one of the top-rated Mexican spots in the area.

An employee familiar with the expansion, who asked not to be named, said the Fruitland Park location could open by the end of June, with more details expected in the coming weeks.

While the original Clermont location will remain open, the new space will allow the restaurant to offer a more refined dining experience. The move also adds a new restaurant to an already strong lineup of La Tapatia, La Palma nearby.

The Atlantic Avenue address has seen a rotation of owners in the past 18 months. Legends Bar & Grill previously occupied the space before relocating to the Fruitland Park Plaza. Its successor, Soul Delicious, had a brief and rocky tenure.

With the arrival of Los Reyes Mexican Grill, local diners can expect vibrant flavors and fresh fare and perhaps a new chapter of stability for this very recognizable location.
