Pedal for Paws: Cycling for a Cause Returns to Support the Humane Society of Lake County
On April 12, cyclists, families, and animal lovers will gather for Pedal for Paws, an annual charity bike ride benefiting the Humane Society of Lake County. Sponsored by Lake Glass & Mirror, this event is dedicated to supporting animal welfare.
The ride will take place at Santos Trailhead in Ocala, with registration beginning at 8 AM and the ride kicking off at 9 AM. Participants will traverse a scenic 16-mile route, enjoying a fun and active way to contribute to a meaningful cause.
“In 2024, Pedal for Paws raised nearly $5,000, and we’re aiming even higher this year,” says Angie Klein, executive director of the Humane Society of Lake County. “It’s a fun event that helps us continue our mission of finding forever homes for animals in need.”
Founded in memory of Lake Glass & Mirror General Manager Bert Boliek’s sister, Nandi, the event combines a love for nature and outdoor activity with a passion for animal welfare.
“This event honors my sister’s memory while raising funds to support rescue animals,” Bert says. “It’s about making a tangible difference in the lives of pets and families.”
For a $40 entry fee, each rider will receive an event T-shirt, snacks and drinks during the ride, and a post-ride pizza celebration. The funds raised will directly benefit the Humane Society, ensuring essential care, shelter, and support for animals in need.
Local businesses and individuals are invited to become sponsors to help maximize the event’s impact. Sponsorship opportunities include Hydration Station Sponsor, Sign-Up Tent Sponsor, Finish Line Sponsor, and Basic Sponsorship, all of which provide visibility and recognition through signage along the route, event T-shirts, and social media acknowledgments.
How to Participate
- Location: Santos Trailhead – 3080 SE 80th St, Ocala
- Time: Registration at 8 AM, Ride begins at 9 AM
- Cost: $40 per person (includes T-shirt, drinks, snacks, and post-ride pizza)
