From hot dogs to shakes Portillo’s is Chicago food done right. There are a few midwestern chains making their way to Florida but Portillo’s is considered the Chick-Fil-A among Chicago inspired fast food cuisine. Portillo’s originally started in 1963 by Dick Portillo who invested $1,100 into a small trailer which he turned into the first Portillo’s hot dog stand in Villa Park, IL.

Now the first Portillo’s in our neck of the woods is slated to open. The location of the restaurant is 1251 East Highway 50. The company posted on facebook with the words “We can’t wait to serve you!” We look forward to the grand opening. Drivers in the area of the grand opening will want to be aware that traffic could be heavier than normal. We suggest using caution when in and around the area on January 9th.
