Round Lake Charter School students Brooke and Justin Stoneking are coming off an impressive year on the track & field scene. They just finished running with some of the best young runners in Florida at the Track & Field State Championships.

Brooke Stoneking is 10 years old and is finishing her 5th-grade year at Round Lake Charter which is located in Mount Dora. Brooke placed 15th in the 800 meter race and 11th in the 1500 meter race. Both are longer distance races, and that is a very respectable performance. Round Lake Charter Track & Field head coach Andy Douglas always does a great job at coaching these young athletes and it was great to see Round Lake Charter represented strongly by these two young runners.

Brooke’s younger brother Justin Stoneking, who is only 8 years old and is in the 3rd grade, was able to finish 17th in the 800 meter race and 19th in the 1500 meter race. For such a young man to make States and compete at this level at just 8 years old is a terrific accomplishment.

Both students represented Lake County with pride and were very proud to represent RLC. Round Lake Charter has produced countless young athletes who have come through the program, and many have eventually competed at High Schools across Lake County.

“We are so proud of what these two have accomplished this year. They have a bright future in front of them,” says Jennifer Stoneking.

Brooke and Justin are now turning their attention to the Junior Olympics, which will be in August. They are two amazing young athletes, and we are so very proud of their accomplishments this season!
