South Sumter High School Softball Stars Sign Commitment Letters
It was a terrific day at South Sutmer High School as both Ari Garcia and Kendall Rumer signed their college commitment letters. Both softball players are veterans at the game and both are successful on and off the softball field.
Ari Garcia has been playing softball for 10 years. She spent the past four years with South Sumter High School and also plays travel ball. Ari has decided to play for Daytona State College in 2025. Ari has an incredible high school resume. She is a 2-time National Honors Society President, 2-time class president, 2-time HOSA Minority Representative. She is also in the MeCA program and obtaining her CNA, CPCT, CMAA, CPR, and EKG certifications. Ari Lettered in 13 varsity sports over the past 4 years. Varsity Volleyball, Weightlifting, Softball, and Track & Field. Ari has a 4.7 GPA, Accumulated 257 hours of community service and is an Early Admissions Student having obtained 36 Dual Enrollment Credits.
“I would like to thank my mome and dad for instilling this dream in me since I was a little girl and always supporting all my aspirations.” says Ari “I would like to thank all my coaches I have ever encountered over the years through all sports seasons for molding me into the athlete I am today. Lastly I would like to thank my softball sisters who I’ve spent most of my life playing this game with. At some point in my life they have all made a big impact on how I play the game and how to share it with others. I am so grateful for all of the sisters I’ve gained through my entire sports career and hope all of them cherish this moment in life and make very bit of it count.
Ari was surrounded by her family. Her mom Stephanie and father Ambrocio Garcia. Ari also thanks her siblings Jasmine, Giselle, and Bobby for all the support they give her. As Ari prepares to head to Daytona State College she already has her eyes set on becoming a doctor. Ari intends on majoring in Nursing and eventually becoming a Doctor in the field of Nursing. Congratulations to the Garcia family!
Kendall Rumer – Lake-Sumter State College
Also signing was Kendall Rumer. Kendall has elected to stay close to home in Lake County where she will play for Lake-Sumter State College. Rumer has been playing softball for 11 years, Travel ball for 6 years and has been on the varsity team the past 3 years. Rumer has a 4.9 Weighted GPA and is Dual Enrolled taking 36 credits that she is putting towards college. She was on the volleyball team for 3 years and is a member of the National Honors Society. Kendall is certified in CNA, CPCT, CMAA, CPR and EKG. She intends to get her Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
“I would like to thank my parents for loving me, supporting me, and making many sacrafices that have made me the person I am.” says Kendall. “Without them, I would not be where I am today. I would also like to thank my family for always being there for me and supporting me. I would like to thank all of my coaches over the years for all the hard work and dedication they put in for making me the athlete I am today.” says Kendall. Congratulations to the Rumer family!
We want to congratulate both the Garcia and Rumer families on their daughter’s accomplishments. Congratulations to South Sumter High School, the faculty and everyone who has been a part of these girls journey’s so far. We look forward to seeing what these ladies will do in the near future and wish them nothing but success.
Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
