For South Sumter Senior Quarterback Landen Sherman, athletics are important but grades are equally important to this young man. Boasting a 4.85 GPA, Landen is one of the smartest kids on the football field and has a 1150 SAT score. While he is brilliant off the field. Landen is due for a breakout year in 2025. He’s been putting in the work in the off season, he’s gained muscle mass and looks the best he ever had as the 2025 football season approaches.

Landen is a 6’1″ 195lb quarterback and he is coming off a strong start to his year. He is one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the 2026 class. In the Spring Football game in May against South Lake High, Landen finished the game with 7 completions on 12 attempts throwing for 107 yards and a touchdown. He also had a few good rushes as well. The one thing that Landen does well is he does not turn the ball over. He uses his intelect to his advantage and sees things before they happen on the field.

Landen has been able to learn behind some great quarterbacks the past few years including Blaine Walker, Will Ammons and Eian Finkley the past few seasons. Each quarterback brought their own strengths to the table. While Landen has been the backup the past two seasons, this year, Landen will look for a breakout year as he leads the South Sumter High offense and hoping to get the Raiders back to the playoffs.

During a recent scouting report by six star football, they said “Landen’s ability to process defenses and deliver the ball on time has made him an efficient leader for South Sumter. He’s a poised pocket passer who also has the mobility to evade defenders and creat second-chance throws. Sherman’s mechanics are polished and consistent, leading to tight spirals and high completion percentages. He is quickly establishing himself as a name to watch moving forward in Florida.”

When they say Landen’s mechanics are polished, this young man has worked as hard as anyone this off season improving in so many little areas. Coming into the year he’s going to have a solid offensive line that should give him time in the pocket to throw passes.

Beyond the field Landen has a great future lined up in front of him. We are excited to watch this young man go to work this season. He has a lot to prove so be on the lookout for breakout year.
