Tavares High’s Izayia Williams Commits To Florida State
Tavares, Fla. — Izayia Williams, a standout junior at Tavares High School, has announced his commitment to play football at Florida State University. Williams, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound edge rusher, has quickly risen as one of the top defensive prospects in the state of Florida.
Known for his explosive speed off the line and relentless pursuit of the quarterback, Williams has been a force for the Bulldogs. His ability to disrupt offenses has garnered attention from several top programs, but Florida State won out in the recruiting battle for now. Williams had been committed to Syracuse but recently announced his intention to play for FSU.
Williams’ commitment is a major win for the Seminoles, who are looking to bolster their defensive line for the future. His combination of size, strength, and speed fits well with Florida State’s aggressive defensive scheme. Williams still has plenty of time left in High School including his senior year. The junior is a must see player. They don’t make guys like this often in Lake or Sumter County, he’s just a solid built athlete with NCAA Division 1 talent written all over him.
Williams will have one more season with Tavares High before officially joining the Seminoles for the 2025 season. Congratulations on this decision. We look forward to watching the rest of the 2024 season.
