The Breakfast Station Serves Up Hometown Favorites in Leesburg

The Breakfast Station in Leesburg has been serving up delicious food since opening in 2016. If you haven’t tried this location, it’s definitely worth the visit. Known for its home fries, homemade biscuits, omelets and pancakes, Breakfast Station has earned a loyal following, and for good reason.

The restaurant’s founders, Cash and Cathy Smith, are no strangers to the food service industry. Cash began his career at age 14 as a dishwasher during summers in northern Michigan. After attending a company Christmas party and seeing the comfortable lifestyle of his manager, he realized he could succeed in the restaurant business too. After graduation, he moved to Florida and learned all aspects of restaurant operations, eventually landing a management role at Perkins.

Cathy also grew up around food service. Her father was a cook in the Air Force and later ran a pizza shop. Cathy and Cash met while working at a Perkins in Bayonet Point, Florida in 1989 and were married by 1990. Though they left Perkins, they remained in the restaurant industry.

Fueled by big dreams and even bigger ambition, the couple opened the first Breakfast Station on May 28, 1995 in Port Richey. Ten years later, they opened a second location in New Port Richey. From there, the concept gained momentum, adding a third location in Brooksville in 2011 and a fourth in Spring Hill, the first franchised location. Ten more locations followed, including the one in Leesburg.

Today, there are around 15 Breakfast Station locations and all are franchises, except for the original two, which are owned and operated by the Smiths’ daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Matt.

Cash and Cathy are known for the way they treat their staff.

“If you treat your staff well, they’ll take care of your customers,” they say.

At the Leesburg Breakfast Station, popular dishes include the Country Fried Steak and the Train Wreck, a homemade biscuit with home fries, peppers and onions, all smothered in sausage gravy and topped with two eggs, any style. Other must-try items include the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes and the Almost Famous Crunch Toast.

(The lunch sandwiches offered are also very delicious.)

Safe to say, when you walk into Breakfast Station, you’ll leave satisfied. And the lunch menu is equally as good offering up some delicious burgers and sandwich options.

Now 23 years after launching their dream, Cash and Cathy continue to assist with new franchise openings and enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.

The Leesburg Breakfast Station is opened seven days per week from 7am-3pm.
