Tornado Destroys Home In Seminole County, Fire Department Saves Two Residents Inside

This morning a Tornado touched down in Seminole County in Longwood. Officials are assessing damage and ensuring residents are safe. Residents in the Markham Woods Road area are asked to stay home to allow response teams to complete their work.

The Seminole County Fire department responded to a home collapse in Longwood. Due to the heroic actions of the firefighters, two individuals who remained in the home were extracted to safety. Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and County Roads and Stormwater crews are clearing roadways, and Duke Energy crews are restoring power.

According to Seminole County “The Semionle County Building and Emergency Management teams are assessing damages and providing tarps to impacted residents at St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Partners at the Red Cross are on the gound to provide assistance. The US National Weather Service in Melbourne Florida is in the field, determining the level of damage and storm intensity.

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
