Umatilla High Cheer Team Wins UCA Cheer Camp Championship

The Umatilla High School cheerleading program made an unforgettable impression at the UCA Cheer Camp held July 31 through August 3 in St. Augustine, bringing home an impressive collection of awards and honors.
The Bulldogs’ varsity and junior varsity squads not only excelled in competition but also earned accolades for spirit, leadership, and service.
The varsity squad secured 1st place in both Camp Routine Small Varsity and Best Technique Small Varsity, while finishing 2nd in the Cheer Routine Small Varsity category. Their energy and unity earned them the Overall Spirit Routine Camp Champion trophy.
The junior varsity squad also performed strongly, earning 2nd place in both Camp Routine and Sideline Routine JV, and clinching 1st place in Best Technique JV.

Seven Umatilla athletes were named All American Cheerleaders, an honor reserved for the top performers at camp who exemplify elite cheerleading skill.

JV: Briley Lorentzen, Aiyanna Miller, Kayli Kimball
Additionally, four cheerleaders received the coveted “Pin It Forward” award, recognizing outstanding leadership, kindness, and positive influence: Mikah Roach, Brooklynn Cropp, Haley Horan, and Bailey Lorentzen.

The entire UHS cheer program was awarded the Top Banana Award on Day 2, a spirited recognition given to the most enthusiastic and unified team. They also earned the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Award for their efforts in writing the most letters supporting awareness and donations to the hospital’s mission.

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
