Villages Basketball Star Herly Brutus Commits to LSU

Herly Brutus, a standout 6-foot-5 wing from The Villages Charter School in Florida, has announced his commitment to LSU, giving head coach Matt McMahon a highly coveted addition to the Tigers’ roster.
Herly, who enters his senior year ranked among the nation’s top-150 players, made the decision after an official visit to Baton Rouge.

The Florida native previously visited Saint Louis and had upcoming trips to Utah and Gonzaga on the calendar, but after his LSU visit, he chose to make his commitment to the Tigers official.
Before joining The Villages, Herly spent his first two high school seasons at Umatilla High School, where he played under head coach Pat Todd and helped lead the team to its first playoff appearance and winning record in many years.

He transferred to The Villages for his junior year, where his impact was immediately felt, helping the team reach the FHSAA state finals and finish as state runners-up.
Herly said in a recent interview that he had narrowed his search down to three schools. He’s looking forward to the season and his goal is to try and bring The Villages its first basketball state championship.
Herly will be featured in Style Magazine’s November edition so be on the lookout.
