Winn-Dixie In Bushnell To Close January 12, Will Become ALDI

BUSHNELL, Fla. — The Winn-Dixie supermarket in Bushnell is set to close its doors on January 12, 2025, marking the end of an era for local shoppers. The store, located on South Main Street, will be converted into an ALDI, according to a store manager who confirmed the news but requested to remain anonymous.

The transition comes as part of a broader trend in the grocery industry, with ALDI expanding its footprint across the region. Known for its budget-friendly prices and no-frills shopping experience, the German-based chain is expected to renovate and reopen the location later in 2025.

The announcement has left some longtime customers saddened by the closure of the Winn-Dixie, a fixture in Bushnell for years.

This is the most recent Winn-Dixie to be closing. The Villages Winn-Dixie at Lake Sumter Landing has also announced plans to transition into an ALDI. Will you miss Winn-Dixie? Let us know in the comments.

No the prices were too expensive for people on fixed incomes.

Yes I will . Only other place we have here without a 30 min drive is Wal Mart, and while Aldi has some good prices in some departments, it is lacking in a lot of areas. The employees don’t have the customer service skills that our W/D employees have…but in today’s world it seems customer service is fading away, and nobody seems to care.
