2026 Sumter County Primary Election Results

Sumter County voter turnout reached 35.5% Tuesday night, with 45,521 ballots cast among 128,239 registered voters.
As of 7:26 pm, all 33 precincts were reporting, though Election Day and vote-by-mail results remained partially reported.

Jeffrey A. Bogue
In the Sumter County Commission District 4 Republican primary, Jeffrey A. Bogue held a commanding lead over Michael Squier with 19,912 votes, or 73.04%, compared with Squier’s 7,349 votes, or 26.96%.
Several School Board races also showed clear leaders.

Sally Moss
In School Board District 1, Sally Moss led Leslie Russell with 25,900 votes, or 68.31%, to Russell’s 12,017 votes, or 31.69%.
In School Board District 3, David A. Williams led Gerald “Jerry” Loomer with 20,732 votes, or 54.52%, compared with Loomer’s 17,294 votes, or 45.48%.
In School Board District 5, Michael Johnson held 71.29% of the vote with 27,154 votes, while Troye Joiner had 10,938 votes, or 28.71%.

Nicole M. Morris
One of the closest contests of the night was the Fifth Judicial Circuit Judge Group 27 race. Nicole M. Morris held a narrow Sumter County lead with 19,703 votes, or 50.32%, while Lisa Yeager had 19,450 votes, or 49.68% — a difference of just 253 votes.
In the Republican primary for Florida’s 11th Congressional District, Joe Strada led among Sumter County voters with 10,403 votes, or 33.29%. Tim Wilkins followed closely with 9,552 votes, or 30.57%, while Carey Baker had 9,204 votes, or 29.45%.

James Pericola
On the Democratic side, James Pericola led the Congressional District 11 vote in Sumter County with 4,942 votes, or 52.46%. Dan Williams had 25.13% and Royal Webster had 22.41%.
In the Republican governor’s primary, Byron Donalds led Sumter County with 17,142 votes, or 53.81%, followed by Jay Collins with 9,824 votes, or 30.84%.
David Jolly led the Democratic governor’s primary in Sumter County with 6,695 votes, or 69.76%.

Ashley Moody
Ashley Moody held 83.82% of Sumter County’s vote in the Republican U.S. Senate primary, while Alex Vindman led the Democratic Senate vote with 66.87%.
Other statewide results in Sumter County showed Blaise Ingoglia leading the Republican primary for chief financial officer with 69.26%, Wilton Simpson leading the Republican agriculture commissioner race with 69.76%, Annette Taddeo leading the Democratic CFO primary with 68.63% and Joey Mendoza Atkins leading the Democratic agriculture commissioner contest with 59.19%.
