After more than 30 years in nursing, Georgia Skyers has built a career around helping women talk about subjects that too often go unspoken.

As founder of EMANCIPATRIX, Georgia helps women navigate menopause, pelvic pain, cancer survivorship, intimacy and other sensitive health concerns. She says the most rewarding part of her work is seeing someone leave with answers, a plan and renewed hope after carrying difficult questions for years.

Opening EMANCIPATRIX is the professional accomplishment she is most proud of. Drawing on more than three decades of nursing experience, she created a space where women can talk openly about their health without embarrassment or fear of judgment.

“What still gets me, every single time, is hearing a woman say, ‘I always thought I was weird. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one,'” Georgia says. “That’s the moment I know why I built this.”

Georgia believes education extends beyond the exam room. She partners with local organizations, healthcare providers and community groups to provide programs on women’s sexual health, menopause, cancer survivorship and healthy relationships. As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, she also supports survivors while advocating for education and compassionate care throughout the community.

She credits the strong women in her family, along with the patients she has cared for throughout her career, for shaping her leadership and reinforcing the importance of listening with compassion.

Her advice to the next generation is to remain curious.

“Lead with curiosity before certainty,” Georgia says. “The most meaningful work happens when you’re willing to listen deeply, continue learning and meet people where they are. Success is measured by the lives you leave better than you found them.”
