Michael Huey, 28

Occupation: Owner, Two Old Hags Wine Bar, Leesburg

What I do: I operate the wine bar, manage inventory and employees. We also own several family properties which I oversee.

My inspiration: I started to manage the bar during the COVID-19 pandemic. This allowed me to go into business with my mother, Joyce, who has owned Two Old Hags for 16 years. 

Why it’s my passion: When I see a customer having a great experience it brings me so much joy. We take the time to get to know our customers, so day to day it feels like being with family. Being an important part of this community is very rewarding.

Notable achievement: I’m most proud of continuing this family legacy successfully. This year we doubled the size of our shop and that makes me very proud.  

Words of wisdom: Be adaptive and stay aware of what’s happening around you. Also, it’s important to roll with the punches, listen to criticism and don’t take it too personally. Stay true to yourself and your core values; with good intentions come good outcomes. 

Outside the shop: I love to cook and share meals and bottles of wine with loved ones.

Life after 40: I see my future having multiple locations, improving this community and hopefully starting a family.
