Former Leesburg High Football Star Evan James Commits to Furman University

Evan James has committed to Furman University. James was a huge reason for the success of the Leesburg High School football team last year. He and quarterback Salomon George broke records and delivered the best season for Leesburg in nearly 30 years.

(Evan James made his announcement via social media “I would like to announce that I have committed to Furman University.”)

James led the team in receiving yards last year with 33 receptions totaling 649 yards and resulting in 10 touchdowns. But James didn’t just get things done offensively; he also contributed with 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery.

This is a big opportunity for Evan James. Furman University plays in the FCS division in the Southern Conference and is located in Greenville, South Carolina.

(Evan James led Leesburg with 10 touchdowns offensively. He even had a 99 yard blocked field goal returned for a touchdown along with two interceptions.)

While Evan James will not compete for Leesburg this season and has transferred to The First Academy in Orlando to follow head coach Steven Moffett, we are proud of what this young man accomplished at Leesburg High School.

We congratulate his family, friends, coaches, and everyone who made his journey possible. Congratulations once again to Evan James! We wish him nothing but success in his upcoming senior season at The First Academy!
