Leesburg police officers are set to receive a well-deserved pay increase by October 1st, following successful negotiations with city officials. This increase reflects the city’s commitment to acknowledging the hard work and dedication of its law enforcement officers amid a growing population.

“The pay increase is a 4% increase from what we were making,” says Leesburg Police Department Sgt. Shannon Walsh.

Currently, the base pay for first-year officers is $60,000, with additional incentives bringing it up to $61,255. This increase aims to ensure that Leesburg remains competitive in attracting and retaining talented officers.

The Leesburg Police Department (LPD) is a progressive law enforcement agency with 121 employees who are dedicated to providing the highest level of service to both residents and visitors. As a “Community Oriented Policing” (C.O.P.) department, LPD employs a problem-solving philosophy supported by intelligence-led principles. They not only engage in traditional enforcement activities but also focus on long-term problem resolution through various partnerships with local citizens.

This pay increase comes as Leesburg continues to experience population growth, highlighting the critical role that the LPD plays in maintaining safety and order. The department’s commitment to community-oriented policing ensures that they remain deeply integrated and responsive to the needs of the community.

City officials and residents alike have expressed their gratitude for the LPD’s unwavering dedication and the positive impact they have on the community. This pay raise is a testament to the hard work and perseverance of Leesburg’s police officers, ensuring they are well-supported as they continue to keep the city safe.
