City of Groveland Announces Grand Opening of Cherry Lake Park with Trunk or Treat Festivities
Groveland, FL (Oct. 31, 2024) – The City of Groveland is thrilled to announce the Grand Opening of Cherry Lake Park, an expansive new recreational space, set to officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, located at 131 Wilson Lake Pkwy. This exciting community event will be followed by a festive Trunk or Treat, creating a family-friendly atmosphere that blends the Halloween spirit with the joy of outdoor fun.
“We are thrilled to open Cherry Lake Park, a space that will serve as a hub for outdoor activities and community gatherings,” said Mayor Evelyn Wilson. “With this park, we are continuing our commitment to providing residents with exceptional recreational opportunities, while embracing Groveland’s natural charm and beauty. This project is a milestone in our strategic plan to foster a vibrant and connected community.”
Cherry Lake Park Features
The new playground, designed by KOMPAN, showcases the manufacturer’s largest play structure in Florida. Highlights include a 29-foot-tall, ramp-accessible GIANT Play Tower, zipline, and wooden parkour climbing net, promising hours of exploration and active play for visitors of all ages.
The park also features a state-of-the-art Fitness Court, courtesy of the Live Well Foundation of South Lake, supporting Groveland’s health-focused initiatives. Equipped with seven core movements—core, squat, push, lunge, pull, agility, and bend—the Fitness Court is designed to deliver a full-body workout. Visitors can enhance their experience by using the free Fitness Court app, offering video tutorials and a customizable workout library.
“Cherry Lake Park is the result of collaborative efforts between the city and our partners,” said Parks and Community Services Director Mike Walker. “We want to express our gratitude to the Live Well Foundation for their contributions. We’re excited to have everyone come out and enjoy it.”
